Welcome to the Love Warsaw Travel Advice section. Here you will find a few friendly tips, which should help you enjoy your visit.
There are plenty of places where you can change your money in Warsaw and it will be worthwhile checking out a few different ones before making a decision.
We highly recommend that you do not use the Bureaux de Change in the town centre, the rates are really bad.
Its not as easy here because we do not use the traditional symbols to represent the Ladies WC from the Gents. No little man, no little woman just a circle and a triangle - How confusing is that? If you are a Lady, use the toilet marked with a circle, if you're not, use the triangle, if you're unsure, ask someone!
Unlike other European countries, waiters in Poland do not expect a tip, so don't feel obliged to do so. If you really like the service and it makes you feel better, then go for it.
To get the best deals on Warsaw accommodation, book ahead and check out Late Availability deals on this website, you'll be amazed how much you can save. A bit risky though leaving it to the last minute! If you haven't booked ahead, haven't found a great Late Deal then haggle for the best price (especially in the low season).
Always ring for a taxi or ask someone to ring one for you. Hailing a taxi in the street will have the desired effect and you will get your ride; however it will cost you an extra 30% to do so.
Public transport in Warsaw is very efficient, always on time and always a clean seat to sit on. We recommend that you invest in an unlimited public transport pass, at the time of writing this article a 24 hour pass is just over 7 PLN. A 1 week pass is only 24 PLN. 'Cheap as Chips'
It may be tempting to purchase that beautiful old painting but be careful! It is illegal to take pre-1945 paintings out of the country.
You will need to purchase a telephone card (karta telefoniczna) to use a public phone. Just look out for a roadside kiosk (there's lots of them) - you can buy one there.
